Blog Fail

Oh, is it even a surprise?! I stink at blogging more than about once a month. To be completely honest, our lives are just not that exciting. work...work out...cook dinner...relax together...hang out with friends...repeat. And we LOVE it! I don't want to run around like a crazy person all the time. I like my relaxing and low-key (and therefore not super exciting to blog about) life! But something exciting did happen lately :) My closest girl friends and I made fall wreaths for our doors--and they're cute! We got the inspiration here via here.

Now, let me preface by saying that my friends are stinkin awesome. These girls have been the closest girls to me for years now. I know how lucky I am and I try not to take them (or living within 45 minutes of them) for granted. We got together last Saturday for brunch and chit-chat time. Success number one. After a relaxing and enjoyable few hours at IHOP, we decided to go shopping. Let's go to Hobby Lobby because we haven't been there in a long time one brilliant friend suggested. These were famous last words that day. We never made it to another store. But we did end up with three beautiful wreaths, one for each of our doors :) As we wandered around Hobby Lobby aimlessly (one our many talents, especially when we're together) we walked down each and every Christmas aisle. Now, to fully appreciate this you must realize that one friend loves all things Christmas. the garland, the nick-knacks, everything. The other friend hasn't put up a Christmas tree in her home since she got married and views most small decorations as junk in the way. I am somewhere in the middle. Now, I'm not judging either viewpoint, just saying that together in a store full of decorations is absolutely hilarious.

But I digress....

After we have wandered around the store, I remember the inspiration pin from pinterest and think, well, while I'm here... and begin to gather felt and a wreath form. Of course I'm super indecisive and must ask my trusty confidants for advice. After I've hem-hawed around and finally decided on my selections, my two buddies have jumped on the bandwagon. We are all making wreaths!

Skip ahead to the good part...

We crash one friend's house (the Christmas-lover, but not important) and begin to make wreaths.

We all cut our desired fabric into strips, wrap it around the wreath, and use straight pins to secure. Now, take it from us, we learned that thin fabric with small print works best.

Here are all three of our wreaths, nicely covered in our chosen fabrics :)

Next, go to town cutting out lots of little circles from felt and fabric. Or heart-shaped, butt-shaped, oval-shaped, kind of like circles-shaped pieces. We laughed real hard and they still turned out beautifully!

Fold your circle in half, then fold it like a mini fan.

Put it on your wreath and pin through the corner with two complete folds (on the right in the picture above). Yep, simple straight pins work great.

Then pull the edges out a little and fluff.

Grab another circle(ish) piece of felt or fabric and repeat. We determined that this method was the best after a few failed attempts with different folding/fluffing methods. If you try this project and come up with a new method, please share!

Keep adding pieces until it looks just like you want. Then hang on the front door and admire your work!

Here are the other two wreaths, the green one isn't quite done in this pic...

I know, I know, I have the BEST friends ever! So what are you waiting for, go make a wreath!
