Set Fire to the Rain

I've been loving my Adele station on Pandora lately :) hence the title.

Well this weekend has been exactly what I needed. I have spent some wonderful quality time with friends and Mr. H, as well as some much needed time with my Savior. It is astounding to me how simply sitting in the presence of my Lord, reading and hearing His words, can quench such deep needs that I couldn't even put into words. I have renewed faith, grace, love, and patience. I even went to Wal-Mart during the crazy Super Bowl Sunday rush this afternoon and was all smiles. If my joy cannot be squashed by far too many people acting crazy because they're on a mission, you know it must be ethereal.

I got my nails and hair done this weekend! :) YAY! It was great. I also have a new favorite way to style my hair that doesn't use any heat. This is definitely a plus for me as I have a tendency to overuse my flat iron. oops. And I really wouldn't care too much about damaging the ends of my hair if I could just trim them off (ignore that last part Kristen!), but that doesn't work too well when I'm trying to grow out my hair. If you're curious, here's my new method:

First, put in some product. I use split-end mender (as deemed necessary by the aforementioned reasons), volume mouse at my roots, and texturizing spray throughout. Then I let my hair dry about half way. If it's complete wet it will never dry once it's twisted. Next I twist sections of my hair all the way from root to end, fold these sections in half so they spiral on top of themselves, and clip/bobby pin it to my head. Confused? Pictures are below. I usually do about 8 sections around my head. Of course the smaller the section and tighter the twist, the tighter the waves will be at the end. That's about it, now go about your life. I have been doing this in the evenings after I workout, leaving it for about 3-4 hours to dry, and then taking it out before bed. I don't leave it overnight because I think the results will be too tight for my liking. I'm really digging the loose, beach-y waves.
After your hair is almost completely dry (my hair takes FOREVER to dry!) take down the twists. You will have the lovely tendril look pictured above. :) Just run your fingers through it, shake your head upside down, whatever you want to break it up. Voila! Hair pretty enough to wear out that is super easy and non-damaging. LOVE IT!

Well I can honestly say that I'm ready to go back to work tomorrow. After last week and looking at the calendar for this upcoming week, that statement is proof that I serve a magnificent and wondrous God! I hope you have a great week!
